Rugbyclub the Vets uit Valkenswaard hebben afgelopen zondag met compleet rugby tegen de Wallaby’s uit Venlo een  mooie prestatie neergezet. De opdracht was dat er meer gecommuniceerd moest worden. Alle spelers van the Vets namen dit ter harte en na het eerste fluitsignaal waren het de mannen uit Valkenswaard die met de meeste druk startten. Dit resulteerde in een mooie try in de eerste vijf minuten. De Wallaby’s probeerden in de eerste helft alles te doen om tegen te scoren, maar strandden keer op keer in de goede verdediging van de thuis spelende ploeg. Na een aantal contacten heen en weer waren het weer the Vets die scoorden. Het ging voor de spelers van the Vets voor de wind en speelden iedere kans goed uit, wat resulteerde in een russtand van: 26-0.

In de tweede helft gingen de spelers van the Vets verder waar ze waren gebleven. Door goed samenspel van the Vets waren de Wallaby’s niet bij machte om een break te forceren. The Vets daarentegen konden hun eigen spel maken en bleven gefocust op het samenspel. Dit resulteerde in een mooie wedstrijd voor de toeschouwers die in grote getale waren toegestroomd. In de laatste minuut kon zelfs M.Kruijsen nog een gaatje in de gesloten defensie van de Wallaby’s vinden en zijn eerste try van het seizoen te drukken in navolging van C.v.Oorschot. Eindstand 47-0. Scores: H.v.Dijk, P.vd.Gevel, R.Trienekens, Bram van den Putte, C.v.Oorschot, M.Kruijsen. Volgende week spelen The Vets uit tegen de wasps uit Nijmegen.
